Walter We Made It This Far – 20 More?

Psychologist, investment adviser and author Walter F. Wild, Ph.D. celebrated his 80th birthday in GRAND style all in the comforts of his own home!  As guests arrived, Courtesy Valet was at their service.  There were great photographs of Walter taken from his childhood to the present day displayed for guests to enjoy as they checked in – a nice personal touch!  In addition to the wonderful family members that came to celebrate were some of Walter’s dearest friends from the “Hot and Nifty” Class of ’50 from Punahou School.  The gang from the “Y” and other close friends also came to honor Walter as well.

Imagine an already beautiful beachfront setting as a backdrop and enhancing it even more with a canopy of hanging chandeliers and garlands of white lights to illuminate all that sat beneath it from the gorgeous formal table settings which were decked out in black & white satin linens and sashes, the floral and candle decor, to all the special people!  Pretty custom pouches (just for this special occasion) were filled with yummy almondolas as favors from Island Treats Creations added the finishing touch at each place setting.

Throughout the party awesome music and singing by Po’okela featuring Christian Yrizarry of Beach 5 and Alika Souza were enjoyed by everyone!  There were also a couple of impromptu surprises.  One by classmate Paul “Koby” Kobayashi who got up on stage and sang Makalapua (Punahou‘s Class of ’50 song) for his buddy Walter and the other by friend Grace Fu who danced a couple of lovely hulas!  Mahalo to Alika Souza and the guys for backing them up with music!

Kudos to Chef Alek Sato and Ann Honbo of Elite Catering for the FABULOUS cuisine!!  Enjoyed watching Chef Alek in action as he skillfully carved that HUGE oh so ono suckling pig!  The smoked salmon topped with creme fraiche and caviar served in the cutest mini cones were delish, the beef tenderloin entree (OMG to die for) and the whole steamed snapper were just some of the culinary delights!  The desserts were divine – loved the creme brûlée which is also one of Walter’s favorite desserts.  Mahalo to the Elite Catering staff for providing the great and friendly service!  Bartender, Keith Shimogawa, thanks for keeping us all well hydrated.  Event Coordinator, Merryl Iraha, from Vows In Paradise did an awesome job and pulled off another successful event!!

The Booth was super excited to be part of the festivities!  Our signature black and white damask backdrop was selected and we were all “styling” in our custom logo black and white shirts which coordinated perfectly with Walter’s black & white party theme!  And, we had a “wild” time with all those that came through the photo booth!  The grandkids especially were having a ball taking lots of pictures with the various props as evidenced by the numerous pics taken.  With our special Live Slideshow feature, the folks outside were able to view and enjoy all the fun shenanigans going on inside as we projected the photo images taken in the booth (this time) on the caterer’s tent!  The last few group shots taken were with Walter surrounded by his family.  What a wonderful way for Walter to remember his 80th birthday and all the friends and family that came to celebrate!

It was a great party that honored and celebrated Walter for being such a wonderful person that he truly is! Everything you would expect from a “black tie” affair (without having to wear a tie) – it was all SUPERB!!

Thank you Sue & Walter for welcoming us into your home!  Walter you made it this far – 20 more?  No problem!  We wish you many happy and healthy years ahead!!

With much aloha . . . Val & Kim
