The air was filled with excitement as The Booth and McKinley High School’s Class of ’82 were setting up for the big celebration! These guys had a couple days’ worth of partying prior to attending this beautiful reception at the Hawaii Prince Hotel. We could tell this bunch was going to be a riot because all night the Emcee kept poking fun at many of his high school buddies. Don’t let their age fool you these guys knew how to party! The event included a wonderful buffet spread, games with great prizes, hula dance performances, and great live music by JP Project that kept everyone on their feet dancing to the very end! There was also a slide show that captured many fond memories from the “good ole days” and a few moments remembering their fellow classmates who continue to live on in their hearts.
The Booth started out with people who really didn’t know what we were all about, but as the night progressed those shy guys in the beginning became regulars in The Booth. We remember one lady who told us if we needed someone when we did our system check she would be glad to be our model! Of course she was the first one in line when The Booth started at 6:00 p.m. only to return later with her husband who ended up carrying her while striking a pose — they had a blast! It’s one of the reasons that make The Booth great — you’re not boxed in so you have more flexibility and room to be creative to do poses like that! Some mentioned that the reunion reminded them of prom night in that they got all dressed up and now anxiously waiting to get their picture taken. It was really nice to see everyone enjoying each other’s company while reminiscing and catching up on each other’s lives. They appreciated and loved their photo keepsakes to remind them of a very special evening spent with their long time friends.
Thank you to Linda at Hawaii Prince Hotel and the staff for helping to make the event a success! A special thank you to Ken Anama for recommending us. And, a very warm mahalo to the Class of ’82 for having us be a part of your very spirited 30th reunion! You are an awesome class! Go Tigers . . .
With much aloha, Val & Kim 🙂
