‘Twas the Week Before Christmas (Part 2 of 2) . . .

Posted by on Dec 28, 2011 in Special Events | 0 comments

The Booth is ending its year on a high note and booking strong into 2012.  We appreciate and thank you all for the love and support you’ve shown us throughout the year.  Wishing you all a Happy New Year and the best in 2012! In closing and just for fun here is a little twist on a famous Christmas poem which recaps the party . . .     ‘Twas the week before Christmas when all through the house Only Chico was stirring, no worry – no mouse The stockings were hung here and there with some care In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there. Tinsel wrapped railings and twinkling lights all above Walking along candy cane lane what’s not to love There were all kinds of food to fill your tummy And desserts galore that were all so yummy! The table of grab bags was filled to the gill So one more was added for the overflow spill Fun and games were part of the night to appear Like my airplane mania – my goodness, oh dear . . . With their folded paper planes, so cool and quick In just a few moments they all look so slick Family and friends were lining the hall with planes And they shouted the winners and called them by name! Yay Ka’eo, Yay Kellan, Yay Cecil and Ricardo Yay Ralphy, nay Renee, nay Frankie or Kim-o They flew their plane through the green holiday wreath Five of them made it and others felt grief Todd serenaded us with his cool clarinet With a medley of Christmas songs not to forget Some of us just listened and some of us hummed But not everyone could come so we were bummed. And then, in a twinkling I heard on the roof The prancing and pawing of each little hoof. As I peeked out my head and was turning around Down the hallway St. Nicholas came with a sound He was dressed in fur, from his head to his foot But his clothes weren’t tarnished with ashes and soot. A bag full of gifts he flung on his back And he looked like a peddler, just opening his sack. His eyes how they twinkled his dimples how merry His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow And the beard of his chin was as white as snow. Santa sat in the photo booth oh wow wee And called the good boys and girls smiling with glee He had a cute face and a little round belly That shook when he laughed, like a bowlful of jelly. He was chubby and plump, a right jolly elf And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself A wink of his eyes and a twist of his head Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread. As he picked up each gift he called out their name And one by one they started to stake their claim Some came and sat or cried on ole St. Nick’s lap While others stood by and just started to clap. He sprang from The Booth to his team gave a whistle And away they all flew like the down of a thistle But I heard him say as he drove out of sight Merry Christmas to all, and to all a goodnight!...

‘Twas the Week Before Christmas (Part 1 of 2) . . .

It’s that time of year when my family and friends once again gather to celebrate the holidays in Manoa.  Ed Kanoi of Kool Gold 107.9 – one of Hawaii’s most recognizable voices came to party with us too.  Imagine my surprise when my girlfriend, Lynn, called to say she heard Ed mention my name on the radio the next morning! This year was extra special as The Booth joined in the festivities adding more flair and fun!  A number of guests have only heard about the “buzz” surrounding our photo booth so this was their chance to experience it for themselves.  Folks kept coming back throughout the night and the photos just got crazier as time went on.  This super fun-loving group definitely knows how to have a good time! A special thank you to Chris Imoto for playing “air traffic controller” for the airplane mania game and a shout-out to Robert Imoto for holding up the wreath in the “runway” and braving the crashes of flying airplanes as dozens stood in line hoping to win the cash prizes!  Luckily for Robert, The Booth had a pair of pilot goggles for eye protection!! Thank you Todd China for bringing your clarinet and playing some holiday tunes for us – you were great!  And, of course, Santa stopped by and brought gifts for all the good little boys and girls (big ones too) and stayed to take some pictures with family and friends in the photo booth before going back to the North Pole!  Thank you Santa . . . Wishing you and yours a most wonderful holiday! Share...

FA LA LA LOTS OF FUN!

The Booth kicked off the holiday season with not one but two companies joining together for one BIG holiday celebration!  Besides having their wonderful employees and families there, they also wanted to include their business associates and their families too.  Some might think this can be a little awkward but add in our photo booth to the festivities – and all of a sudden everyone has something in common – they are having fun.  We love being a great “ice breaker” at events.  It was an awesome melting of people who would on any other day probably not party together. Super fun people kept us busy and the sound of laughter and good times brought more to see what was going on.  Once word got around that we were not your typical photo booth, folks started to line up to join in the fun.  The kids were having a blast trying on all the props and taking LOTS of pictures throughout the evening which hopefully gave their parents a well deserved “break!”  Everyone loved our fresh new Christmas props which were added to our collection of merry trimmings.  The party must have been filled with all good boys and girls because we were very lucky to have a special guest join us — Santa Claus — and magically our photo booth turned into his sleigh . . . This party had it all . . . from the beautiful decor of lights, fresh Christmas flowers, plants, greenery and candles to set the mood, live music entertainment performed by special friends, delicious food catered from Beaches & Backyards Catering served by their friendly staff, the drawing for prizes, and most importantly, a wonderful gathering of family and friends to share and enjoy it with!  We were happy to see some of the musicians and the gals from Beaches & Backyards Catering join in on some photo booth fun as well. There were other special touches that everyone loved too like a colorful candy buffet filled with all sorts of sweets from candies, cookies to those yummy mini cupcakes.  They were so thoughtful to even include sugar-free treats.  Then there was a familiar sound and smell that filled the air – what could it be?  Well fresh popcorn of course being made from one of those authentic popcorn machines you see at the movie theatre (but smaller) coming from the popcorn buffet complete with mochi crunch and other sprinkles. It was a perfect event to get everyone in the holiday spirit!  Thank you to all of you that came out to celebrate the holidays.  A special shout out goes to Hal, Kevin, Juliet and their supportive staff for all your hard work and for doing an awesome job to make this holiday celebration a success!  We had a great time making memories with you and wish you all a joyous holiday season and a super New Year to come! A Spooktacular Halloween Night . . .

Posted by on Nov 3, 2011 in Blog, News, Special Events | 0 comments

This Halloween was a special one for our photo booth.  We wanted to start a tradition and hopefully this tradition will catch on.  It all started when we were pondering over the idea of using our photo booth for a Halloween event and thought it would be awesome to set it up outside of Kim’s home in Ewa Beach.  At first when the rain came down we said, “Oh no we hope we can still set up the booth for Halloween!”  Then shortly thereafter peeking through the clouds appeared a blue sky and we all started cheering – “Photo booth!! Photo booth!!!” We really didn’t know what to expect but we wanted to capture some halloween memories by offering the neighbors the chance to take a picture for free.  We were excited to see that The Booth was a hit and we really appreciated all the kind words we received!  In fact some folks enjoyed the photo booth so much that they started giving us money.  I guess we can start a fund with the tips we got for next year’s Halloween photo booth fun!  LOL!! Although Halloween is mostly for the young, that didn’t stop the “young at heart” from getting into the Halloween spirit as they too paraded down the street holding flashlights and bags waiting to be filled with treats!  It’s the time of year where potential cavities are forgotten for one night!  To add to the Halloween festivities the house was decorated with web-laced bushes, a flying ghost & skeleton, hanging jack-o-lanterns and spider webs crawling up the walls!  The setting was made complete with spooky sound effects and fog lingering in the background. So if you would like to check out all the ghosts, monsters, witches, super heros, princesses and other characters that stopped by that night, please check out The Booth’s facebook: http://www.facebook.com/TheBoothHawaii.  And if you happened to be there that night make sure you “LIKE” us then tag yourselves. Thank you to all the fun-loving trick or treaters who stopped by the photo booth to capture some fun Halloween memories with your awesome costumes!  We’re glad you had a great time too and we look forward to doing it again next year!     Share...

Wow what a great day (and night) we had at the BIGGEST pop-up retail, food and entertainment event to hit the streets at Nonstop Kaka’ako 2011!  For one night only, event goers were able to savor cuisine from local restaurants and food trucks, shop chic fashion boutiques, participate in live art demonstrations, watch live UH football from inside the beer garden, plus take part in games and activities including a climbing wall, basketball hoops, dart games and virtual stand up paddling – all on a single city block in Kaka’ako!  There was live entertainment by Anuhea, Yoza, Kainalu, Lost at Sea, and DJs Jimmy Taco, Quelz and Anit! If you were there, thank you for all the fun and laughs you brought to The Booth!  We were thrilled to see the support of family and friends who came through the photo booth.  And, of course, there were lots of new friends to have fun with too! A BIG MAHALO to event coordinators Karisa Ramolete-Hayashi (Say I Do by Karisa), Poni Askew (Street Grindz, LLC), Lauren Makk (Lauren Makk Interiors) and Erin Kinney (Kamehameha Schools) and their crew for doing an outstanding job in making Nonstop Kaka’ako a HUGE success!!             Share        ...
