McKinley High School – Class of ’82 30th Reunion @ Hawaii Prince Hotel

Posted by on Oct 30, 2012 in Special Events | 1 comment

The air was filled with excitement as The Booth and McKinley High School’s Class of ’82 were setting up for the big celebration!  These guys had a couple days’ worth of partying prior to attending this beautiful reception at the Hawaii Prince Hotel.  We could tell this bunch was going to be a riot because all night the Emcee kept poking fun at many of his high school buddies.  Don’t let their age fool you these guys knew how to party!  The event included a wonderful buffet spread, games with great prizes, hula dance performances, and great live music by JP Project that kept everyone on their feet dancing to the very end!  There was also a slide show that captured many fond memories from the “good ole days” and a few moments remembering their fellow classmates who continue to live on in their hearts. The Booth started out with people who really didn’t know what we were all about, but as the night progressed those shy guys in the beginning became regulars in The Booth.  We remember one lady who told us if we needed someone when we did our system check she would be glad to be our model!  Of course she was the first one in line when The Booth started at 6:00 p.m. only to return later with her husband who ended up carrying her while striking a pose — they had a blast!  It’s one of the reasons that make The Booth great — you’re not boxed in so you have more flexibility and room to be creative to do poses like that!  Some mentioned that the reunion reminded them of prom night in that they got all dressed up and now anxiously waiting to get their picture taken.  It was really nice to see everyone enjoying each other’s company while reminiscing and catching up on each other’s lives.  They appreciated and loved their photo keepsakes to remind them of a very special evening spent with their long time friends. Thank you to Linda at Hawaii Prince Hotel and the staff for helping to make the event a success!  A special thank you to Ken Anama for recommending us.  And, a very warm mahalo to the Class of ’82 for having us be a part of your very spirited 30th reunion!  You are an awesome class!  Go Tigers . . . With much aloha, Val & Kim 🙂    ...

Minei & Dwayne’s Wedding Reception Highlights @ Kapolei Recreation Center

Posted by on Oct 15, 2012 in Weddings | 0 comments

Our beautiful lucky in love couple Minei & Dwayne tied the knot in Las Vegas and then continued to celebrate with family and friends back home in the islands.  Minei & Dwayne’s union not only united them, but also their children into one big beautiful family — kind of like the Brady Bunch! The classy black and white damask decor theme with touches of red transformed the space into an elegant and romantic setting.  There were lots of pretty details . . . mirrored tiles with long-stemmed wine goblet vases topped with a bouquet of red roses, candlelight glowing from the ornate black lanterns, red rose petals and crystal gems were some of the finishing touches sprinkled throughout the venue.  Their “Lucky in Love” banner with the sweetest kissing photo of  Minei wearing a red rose in her hair and Dwayne donning a cool red top hat (probably taken at their ceremony) made for a nice welcoming sign at the reception table! There was live music entertainment by Minei’s Uncle Mundo and friends Terry Brown and Lance Tigner of Menehune Moon who were great! The generous spread of hawaiian food was really ono!  And for favors Maid of Honor, Charmaine’s, sister made decadent red velvet cake pops. In the photo booth it was pretty much non-stop all night long.  First all the children had a great time hamming it up and then the grown-ups wanted to get in on all the action and started lining up for their chance to experience The Booth too!  With props galore to choose from guests were having so much fun playing dress-up which in itself is always entertaining to see how creative they can be!  We invite you to see more photos taken on our Facebook page and please feel free to like us, tag and comment to your heart’s content. The celebration was a joyous one and we were honored to be a part of it!  Thank you to everyone who worked so hard to make the day a wonderful one!  Minei & Dwayne – congratulations and best wishes to you and yours . . . With much aloha, Val & Kim 🙂      ...

Natalie + Jason’s Wedding Highlights @ Honolulu Country Club

Posted by on Oct 4, 2012 in Weddings | 0 comments

It was a perfect day for an outdoor wedding as the bridal party arrived in their limo at Honolulu Country Club.  Natalie looked absolutely radiant and Jason as handsome as can be as they were united in front of a beautiful bamboo arch handcrafted by Natalie’s father!  Nieces Kiyana and Kiara Amodo were the adorable flower girls.  The ceremony site was beautifully decorated by Watanabe Florist and wedding singer Jeremy Cheng provided the ceremony music. Following the ceremony our newly married couple together with their awesome and mighty fine looking bridal party drove off in golf carts with Frank Amodo (Natalie’s super talented photographer brother and all around nice guy) for a “round” of not golf but photo-taking around the country club.  Meanwhile at the 19th hole clubhouse, guests were treated to refreshing cocktails and yummy appetizers while enjoying the music of Jeremy Cheng.  The dinner buffet that followed was also yummy! A rich deep color of navy blue was their color theme that was carried throughout the decor with lovely lines and chair sashes by Chair Covers Hawaii.  Pretty “love” boxes filled with asian sweets were the favors and Hot Cakes got the honor of making the wedding cake.  Amazing handcrafted ceramic bowls fashioned by Natalie and filled with floating candles and flowers made beautiful centerpieces!  Wow, how special to be part of a family with so much talent! There was much in store for everyone which included lion dancing by the Chinese Lion Dance Association and a performance by the Filipino Dance Company.  We all got a kick out of Jeremy Amodo’s banzai toast “redo” when he left the podium midstream only to return moments later dressed like the karate kid (but much cuter) to finish his toast!  Maybe getting into costume helped psyched him up to deliver one of the traditional Japanese toasts — banzai, banzai, banzai! The Booth was also invited to be part of the entertainment and from what we heard and saw from those that came to experience our studio style photo booth, we delivered BIG time fun!  We enjoyed watching many guests experience The Booth for the first time only to return repeatedly throughout the night!  Everyone loved the custom photo keepsakes they got to take home with them.  Be sure to check out our Facebook page where you can “LIKE” us and tag and comment to your heart’s content!  A really warm mahalo to all of you that stopped by and made our day!  We know that Natalie & Jason will enjoy receiving a DVD with all the crazy fun photos captured of themselves and their guests which in turn will make their day too! Emcee Don Faumuina of I DO Wedding Entertainment was terrific and oh so funny!  After the awesome slide show presentation by Josh Fair of Fisheye Studio, Darren Araki of Precision Sound kept the happy couple and their guests dancing until the end!  A special thank you to everyone who worked hard and helped to make this day possible for Natalie & Jason!  And, a big mahalo to Dawn Soloman and the staff of Honolulu Country Club for all that they did to make the wedding day a special one! Towards the end of the evening, I asked Jason if he was happy and I was touched when he looked at me and replied smiling, “Today was the BEST day of my life” now how sweet is that . . . Heartfelt congratulations to our very special couple, Natalie & Jason!  We wish you all the best and much happiness and may each passing day be the...

Pacific Weddings – The White Party @ The Modern Honolulu

Posted by on Sep 17, 2012 in News, Special Events, Weddings | 0 comments

Wow, it was a beautiful summer’s evening for Pacific Weddings‘ White Party!  The Sun Suite at The Modern Honolulu provided the picture-perfect setting overlooking the ocean and yacht harbor for the event! Tables on the terrace were draped with to-die-for white sequins linens by Les Saison which shimmered and shined all evening.  Gorgeous white roses, a timeless classic, were used throughout the decor along with arrangements of clear cylinder vessels of varying heights with glowing floating candles created a warm and inviting atmosphere of modern sophistication!  Yvonne Designs and Mood Events spun their magic on all the decor details from the flowers, drapery, lighting, and even an ingenious custom made table which showcased the focal tablescape that incorporated Pacific Weddings’ logo fashioned with white roses which were all elegantly executed to perfection! The friendly staff of The Modern were on hand serving cocktails and delicious appetizers.  Loved the pretty buffet set-up of divine desserts!  There were even white chocolate dipped chips and yummy white mochi that coordinated with the color theme. You’ll want to get your hands on the latest Pacific Weddings issue which features the most romantic wedding locales and is overflowing with beauty and inspiration!  One of my favorite real weddings featured is the union of Nicole & Chauncey Brown’s at Haiku Sugar Mill in Maui.  It was obvious that a lot of time, thought and love was put into creating this breathtaking and amazing wedding!  Angel Eyes (page 26) is their love story.  The photos captured by the talented Anna Kim brings “oohs” and “aaahs” as it unveils dazzling details!  Another real wedding featured that I loved was that of Jullian & Derek Ahrens who had a romantic beach union at the Outrigger Canoe Club.  Their Unforgettable story (page 56) will touch your heart and soul.  The one and only Frank Amodo was there to brilliantly capture all the precious moments of this destination wedding!  If “a picture is worth a thousand words,” imagine what multiple pages of gorgeous pictures would be worth . . . In addition, Pacific Weddings has a free app for the iPad & iPhone.  The picture quality of the magazine on the iPad is awesome!  Now, wherever I am with my iPad, I have Pacific Weddings at my fingertips a click away — love it!! The Booth was really excited to contribute some fun and laughter to the event.  Pacific Weddings’ (“PW”) logo was the inspiration for the beautiful white roses floral works of art created by Yvonne Design for The Booth‘s backdrop and one of the tablescapes.  We, too, incorporated PW’s logo into the design for the photo prints which guests got to take home along with a goodie bag that included the hot-off-the press issue of Pacific Weddings to remember the FUNtastic event by!  We loved seeing familiar faces and enjoyed getting to know those that came to the party.  It was nice to hear that everyone that experienced The Booth had a blast!  It was great to see Frank Amodo in front of the camera for a change hamming it up with friends in the photo booth.  He even managed to do some “photo bombing” and if you look closely, in some photos, Frank is playing peek-a-boo and making funny faces behind the drapery (lol)!  Below are some photos to enjoy with more on our Facebook page.  We would love for you to “LIKE” us on Facebook and then feel free to comment and tag yourselves and others you may know. A warm mahalo to Renee Tomita of The Modern Honolulu and their staff for helping to make the event...

Jacey’s Grad Party @ Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaii

Posted by on Sep 9, 2012 in Graduations | 0 comments

Jacey’s super fun popcorn theme grad party at the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaii was poppin’ hot!  Loved the colorful popcorn buffet bar set-up with so many yummy flavors with cleaver and fun names to choose from like . . . prime rib (end cut), raging crab (spicy crab), kalakoa (random mix), mama mia (parmesan & garlic), dah werks (baked potato with everything on it), and even a Punahou School color blend of buff & blue (furikake, mochi crunch and m&ms)!  Plus there were pupus, a nice luncheon buffet and some ono banana mochi and seasoned pretzels! Adorable homemade cake & marshmallow pops were the party favors!  Centerpieces were bright blue popcorn boxes filled with a bed of popcorn with more of those cake/marshmallow pops “popping” out of the box.  To determine the recipients of the centerpieces, each centerpiece was placed in the middle of the table and the first person to touch it was the winner.  What a sight to see everyone “pop” out of their seats to reach it – lol! Wonderful family and friends kept The Booth busy throughout the party as they popped in and out until the presentation of the great slideshow honoring Jacey (which turned out to be perfect planning & timing on their part)!  Thanks to all of you for stopping by for some fun memory-making moments.  Below are a few photos of some of those “moments” captured with more on our Facebook page.  We invite you to “LIKE” us on our Facebook page where you can tag and comment on all the photos. Thank you so much for having us be a part of celebrating this very special milestone in Jacey’s life!  It was a great way to top off the graduation season!  Congratulations Jacey – we wish you continued success when you “pop” in at Santa Clara University and in all your future endeavors! With much aloha, Val & Kim 🙂     Share...
